Description
This detailed encaustic floor dates from before world war one and has been reclaimed from a townhouse close to Charlerloi. The tiles were made by Societe Anonyme Produits Ceramiques St Remy-Chimay, a Belgian company. The field tiles as well as the small border tiles can be find in the trade catalog of 1906.
The floor still breaths Art-Nouveau styling, the field tiles show a strong floral theme which matches perfectly with the geometric borders. Some tiles show small groutable chips and nibbles.
