Antique reclaimed floor with original double borders 1895

This floor has been salvaged from a “Belle époque” house near Gent and can be traced back to the trade catalog of the Belgian company Saint Ghislain of 1895. These stunning Art-Nouveau encaustic tiles show a star pattern in a cool color palette of black, blue, white and a touch of gold. Some tiles show edge nibbles or groutable chips but this can be expected from a floor of more than 120 years old.

This classically designed antique Belgian floor has been reclaimed from a “Belle époque” house close to Ghent and has been made by the Belgian company Welkenraedt. The floor showcases a single tile with a geometrical design in a cool pallete with grey and blue as main colors. The field tiles are framed by border with flower pattern.

These reclaimed border tiles with geometric pattern date from before world war 1. The tiles are manufactured by the French company Ceramiques Simons & Cie. .

Possible applications:

Reclaimed ceramic tiles are extremely durable and practical. They are suitable for hot areas like oven surroundings and fire places. They are also ideal for wet areas like outside showers, swimming pools or counter runs.

Antique encaustic floor tiles with classic design

This encaustic floor has been reclaimed from a fine house near Brussels and was made by the Belgian company: SA La Ceramique Moderne from Rebaix. These soft geometric patterns create a timeless and elegant design element in every interior.

Possible applications:
The tiles are durable and versatile they can be used in wet area’s, like an in or outside shower or splash back. They can be used in hot areas as well, like oven surroundings or fire places. The tiles can easily be combined with other tiles for example in the toilet or laid as stone carpet framed in a larger area of other antique tiles, parquet or cast floor.

Antique reclaimed tiles with flower pattern (pré 1912)

These pattern floor tiles were made by Maufroid Frères & Soeur, a Belgian company and have been reclaimed from a Belle Epoque house near Ghent. The four tile motif is classic in design. The border tiles can be laid in duplicate (back to back) or as a single tile. The floor has an antique and pleasing patina. Some tiles have edge nibbles and groutable chips, what can be expected from a floor of more than 100 years old.

Possible applications:

These ceramic tiles are durable and versatile. They can be used in wet areas like an inside our outside shower or a splash back. They can also be used in hot areas like oven surroundings and fire places. It is also quite easy to combine them with plane tiles. Or they can be laid as a stone carpet framed in a larger area of parquet or cast floor.

These handmade border tiles were manufactured by Maufroid Freres & Soeur before 1912. The border tiles have an antique patina where some tiles display edge nibbles.

chimney breasts, inside a shower or as a frame for other tiles, parquet or cast floor

These plinths with flower pattern have been reclaimed from a nice house near Kortrijk (Belgium).

French antique encaustic floor tiles (pré 1910)

These patterned floor tiles have been reclaimed from an entrance hall of a fine house in the east of Flanders. The floor has been made and stamped by the company: Le Carreau de Canteleu from France between 1879-1910. The company was founded by the Belgian ceramist Léon de Smet in 1879.
The floor has a cool color pallet with white, grey, dark brown, sky blue and burned red. The design is a classical flower and cross tessellation. Some tiles (the border tiles) show edge nibbles, but this can be expected from a floor of that age.
