Description
These stunning Art-Nouveau tiles show a dotted star pattern in a palette of soft pink and green. The floor has been reclaimed from a maison the maître near Antwerp. The matching same size border tiles are framed by two half size borders. The tiles were made and stamped by the Belgium company Amay in the early part of the 20th century. The floor has an antique and rich patina with color variations. More than a 100 years ago these tiles were made by hand and clay color was mixed by the eye, also the firing time and temperature could vary and contributed to these subtle tonal variations. Some tile show edge nibbles and small groutable chips.
