Description
This beautiful small thistle themed floor has been reclaimed from a house near Leuven in Belgium. The vegetal theme of thistle and cornflowers is used regularly throughout the Art-Nouveau period.
The field pattern is formed by 4 field tiles. De floor itself is again framed by a double border and the thistle theme is repeated in the full border size tiles.
Some tiles have the occasional edge nibble or a small groutable chip but the ceramic tiles are in excellent condition (See pictures)
Possible applications:
These ceramic tiles can be used as a decorative and practical splash back. Or in a small room for example the toilet. It is also quite easy to combine them with plane tiles. Or they can be laid as a stone carpet framed in a larger area of parquet or cast floor. The theme and pallete of the floor could be a real asset for winter garden, small terrace or outside shower.
In the photo library is a picture included of the winter garden of The R Ursuline institute (Belgium). This winter garden has been considerd as a trough Art- Nouveau Gem. The floor has the same theme of thistle en cornflowers. These tiles are only produced by another company.
