Description
This small Boch Freres ceramic floor with original border dates from 1895 and has been reclaimed from a house in Antwerp (Belgium). In this handmade production of 17×17 cm tiles a beautiful single motif tile is framed by a single border with the same dimensions. The same field tiles can be found in the Cathedral of Cahors in France. This floor shows a rich patina and most of the tiles display capillary cracks which were formed at the time of production. Therefore it could be possible that this floor was a second choice. Some tiles show edge nibbles or ships, which is very common for a floor of more than 125 years old.
